"Ash & Oak' Pro Logger chainsaw races

"ASH & OAK" PRO-LOGGER CHAINSAW RACES

Want to show off your chainsaw skills?

Think you’re pretty handy with a chainsaw? This year’s Kawerau WoodFest will give a chance to show off your stuff. If you’re a fully qualified chainsaw operator, event organisers would love to have you involved – and there are cash prizes up for grabs.

In the popular competition, to be held on the Saturday of WoodFest weekend, each logger must make 10 straight cuts on a 2.2m log faster than the opposition. The fastest operators will make it through to the next round, with this year’s winner receiving a minimum of $800 cash.

There are just 24 spaces available, so be in quickly if you’re keen to take part. Registrations open at 8am, with the first round kicking off at 9am.

Event Sponsors

Ash & Oak Arborists

Local arborists in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and long term supporter of many activities at Kawerau Woodfest.  Company director Asher Boyer has competed in the Pro Logger races for some years and regurlarly makes the finals but is yet to win it.  In 2015 we welcome Ash & Oak as our principal sponsor.

Hubbard Contracting

Big shout out to Jason Hubbard and the team for helping move all the logs to Prideaux Park.

Kajavala Forestry Limited (KFL)

Main employer in Kawerau for chainsaw operators and a key business in driving the local economy. Company director Jacb Kajavala has been with the Logger Races since it's inception and has stepped aside to allow for new businesses to step up. KFL will still play a big part in the races with plenty of staff and the all important preparation of the logs ready for competition day.

Hancock Forest Management

Sponsors of the pinus radiatus logs which are used for the races.  Without which we wouldn't have this race and Hancocks have also been another of our main supporters of this event.
