Only in Kawerau will you see the amazing sight of extreme woodchip shovelling.

Reigning champions the Hubbards Razorbacks will be the team to watch. Can they defend their world championship title in 2021, or will another crew take top place?

Dig deep! Teams will shovel it out for supremacy, with four team members attempting to shovel three cubic metres of locally produced wood chip into a giant ‘Foote’ bin before the other teams. One rolling sub is permitted.

The Pacific Toyota Diddy Dig

Launched in 2011, the Pacific Toyota Diddy Dig is a must-see at Kawerau Woodfest. 

The challenge to be the fastest to shovel half a cubic metre of woodchip into a specially made diddy bin. The top two teams in each round will go through to a winners' semi-final and knockout competition. 

Last year Kawerau South School took out the coveted diddy dig trophy. This will be up for grabs again this year, along with plenty of spot prizes.

Entry fees:

  • $20 for one team.
  • $30 for two teams.
  • $35 for three or more teams.
