Kawerau Cottage Craft Club
The Kawerau Cottage Craft Club is a very busy community group.
It has been going for over 50 years, and it currently has over 50 active members.
They meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesdays of the month at the Masonic Lodge Rooms, Onslow Street at 9.30am.
The spinners and weavers also meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday mornings at the Catholic Church Hall on Onslow Street.
All crafts are covered over the year and all interested members are very welcome --- they can bring any type of Craft Work along with you.
Some meetings there are guest speakers and demonstrations, sometimes there are outings, other meetings are shared craft mornings.
There is always morning tea and a Sales Table --- the funds raised from this go to the Rescue Helicopter.

Blokes Shed
The Blokes Shed in Kawerau, has been operating for over three years. It is a workshop specifically for men living with Alzheimer’s and people with other similar conditions.
The group meet every Wednesday morning in the double garage at Mountain View Rest Home, on River Road Kawerau.
There are usually 10 clients attending, half are from the community, and the other half are residents in the rest home. There is always one staff member in attendance who is an occupational therapist, and she is assisted by up to 10 volunteers.
The clients are limited in ability, and generally do sanding and painting of items that have been made off site by volunteers in wood working workshops.
